Senior Consultant, Native & Culturally Responsive Education
Kellie is driven to create successful learning environments that are inclusive of all learning modalities and that ensure successful engagement in lessons, positive and safe learning environments, and that meet the unique learning needs of individual learners. She would like to create positive changes that enhance and elevate student achievement and preparedness for future academia by helping to create a culture in educational systems that values and harnesses student assets. She is most passionate about Native education and being able to increase student achievement rates that reflect equitable access and inclusion in the everyday school experience.
Through her early work as a substitute teacher, Kellie was able to experience many different schools and program activities and found she had a knack for helping students succeed. Her emphasis now is on Native education and Indigenous language preservation and revitalizations. After years of working as an educator for Native American populations, Kellie returned to a rural tribal community comprised almost solely of students who were bilingual. Here, she was able to tie all of her previous experience into one classroom setting. This experience is now the model she hopes to replicate for all Native students and classroom teachers across other states and districts.
